Renewals

Renewals can be done multiple ways to include online, in person, the red drop box or by mail. 

Online Renewals:

Motor Vehicle Registration Renewals

Renewals by Mail:

Process your renewal through the mail. 

  • Current mailing address must match expiring registration, otherwise come in to renew and update address. Address on postcard does not necessarily mean address has been updated with Motor Vehicle Department.
  • Mail postcard and check/money order to:
    Lewis & Clark MVD, 316 N Park Ave, Rm 142, Helena, MT 59623


In person Renewal Line:

Come see us in person to process your renewal. We are happy to help you! 

  • The Renewal Line is open 8:00am to 4:45pm, Monday-Friday, excluding Holidays.
  • Cash, Check, Mastercard and Visa are accepted as payment.

Red Drop Box:

If you don't have time to wait in line, you can drop your payment in the Red Drop Box located near the door of the office. Red drop box renewals will be processed and mailed out the following day.

Please include in your envelope:

  • The renewal notice (Blue Postcard). Please make sure to check to see if expiring registrations address matches the front of the renewal card.
  • Check/Money Order for exact amount.
