Criminal Investigation Division

There are six Detectives and a Supervisor assigned to the Lewis & Clark County Sheriff's Office Criminal Investigation Division. 

The Lewis and Clark Sheriff's Office Investigators handle a wide range of duties. They are responsible for all major investigations, as well as conducting routine case work involving burglaries, thefts and criminal mischief. One Detective is assigned as the Violence Against Women Advocate and one is assigned to the Internet Crimes Against Children Task Force. The Detectives work closely with the coroner in cases of suicides or unattended deaths.

Property and Evidence

The Evidence Technician is responsible for the security and control of seized, recovered and evidentiary property as well as abandoned, lost or found property in the custody of the Sheriff's Office. Additionally, the Evidence Technician serves as support to the Detectives in the collection of evidence, coordinates with the Forensic Scientists at the Crime Lab, and interfaces with the courts and County Attorney's office in maintaining chain of custody.
