County Approves Administrative Fee Update

Helena, MT – On September 30, 2025, the Lewis and Clark County Board of Commissioners approved updates to the Administrative Fee Schedule for services provided by the Community Development and Planning and Public Works departments. The new fees take effect October 1, 2025.

The updated schedule helps cover the cost of reviewing applications while supporting responsible growth and fairness to taxpayers.

Services affected include:

  • Subdivision exemptions
  • Buildings for lease or rent
  • Zoning
  • Floodplain ordinance
  • Encroachment permits
  • Growth policy amendments
  • Excavation, overweight, and approach permits
  • Address assignments and plaques
  • Road adjustments
  • Weed management

County staff based the updates on current review costs and comparisons with similar Montana counties to ensure fairness and transparency.

The last major update was in 2009, with a targeted revision in 2014. Since then, costs have increased, and reviews have become more complex due to changing regulations and greater public involvement.
