County Invites Public to Share Storm Damage Information
Published on December 19, 2025
Helena, MT — Lewis and Clark County Emergency Management is asking residents to take part in a new online storm damage report to help officials better understand the impact of the extreme wind event that occurred on December 17, 2025.
The survey allows community members to report damage to homes, property, businesses, and infrastructure caused by the high winds. Information collected will be used to identify how different areas of the county were affected and to improve planning and preparedness for future extreme weather events.
“By hearing directly from residents, we can get a clearer picture of where damage occurred and how severe it was,” said Kyle Sturgill-Simon, Lewis and Clark County Emergency Manager. “We are hoping to compare the recorded wind gusts with reported damage and see how they relate. The results will help us better understand how weather affects our community and identify future resource needs.”
Emergency Management officials note that the survey is intended solely for data collection and should not be used to request assistance. The information gathered will help guide long-term mitigation, emergency response planning, and recovery planning efforts.
Residents who experienced damage from the December 17 wind event are encouraged to complete the online survey by visiting lccountymt.gov and clicking on the survey link at the top of the page. Participation will help ensure that future emergency planning reflects real impacts experienced across Lewis and Clark County.
