Helena, MT – Lewis and Clark County Public Works Special District Supervisors Christian Lehnert and Jessica Makus will be presented with a Department of Defense Spouse Patriot Award during the Lewis and Clark County Commission meeting on Tuesday, September 20, 2022 at 9:00 A.M. The award recognizes the extraordinary support Mr. Lehnert and Ms. Makus have provided to their employee Jade Wills who is the spouse of a member of the Montana Army National Guard 1-163rd I-CO 145th.

The Spouse Patriot Award was developed by Employer Support of the Guard and Reserve (ESGR), a Department of Defense office, to publicly recognize civilian employers who provide outstanding patriotic support and cooperation to the spouse of a Guard or Reserve. Though not required by law, many employers voluntarily assist Guard and Reserve spouses, who often share the challenges of military service. Childcare, managing the household, and work schedules often have to be adjusted when one spouse leaves to serve our country.

Lewis and Clark County Commission meetings are held in the Commission Chambers, room 330 of the City-County Building located at 316 N. Park Avenue, in Helena, Montana. To view the full meeting agenda, visit https://www.lccountymt.gov/bocc/commission-meetings.html.

Employer Support of the Guard and Reserve is celebrating 50 years of working to foster a culture in which all employers support and value the employment and military service of members of the National Guard and Reserve in the United States and their spouses.
