The Lewis & Clark Fire Service Area and the West Valley Fire District voted to consolidate on September 20 and September 30, 2021 respectively. For 18 years, the two departments have responded together to serve the community. Consolidation will result in lower fees for most residents of the Lewis & Clark FSA while improving administrative efficiencies for both departments. Response times and operational costs will stay the same. The new District will be run by the existing West Valley Fire District board of trustees.
Instead of a flat fee for structure, a mill levy will be assessed. A small number of high-value properties may see an increase. The new assessment will take effect in the next tax roll (November 2022/May 2023).
