Closures

Helena – The Lewis and Clark County Treasurer/Clerk and Recorder announces office closures and restrictions in response to the COVID-19 pandemic.  To further limit exposure with both staff and the public, the following services will be available through mail and online only beginning today at 5 PM.

Elections

Voter Registration and Elections Online Services

·         Check if you are registered to vote and if you are signed up for absentee ballots: www.MyVoterPageMT.com

·         Though you cannot register to vote or request an absentee ballot online, you can download the form so you can complete, print, sign, and then return:

·         Most updates and requests require a signed form. Please call the office at 447-8339 and we will mail you the form you need with a postage-paid return envelope.

Renewals

  • Vehicles no more than one month expired may renew here: https://app.mt.gov/vrr/renewal/index.html . Please make sure the mailing address listed on your current registration is correct. Please come in to renew if you have moved.
  • Through the mail*.
  • Drop payment in the Red Box in Lobby.
  • Expired (over one month) and permanent renewals maybe be requested on-line here: https://app.mt.gov/accessgov/lewisandclark-clerk-treasurer . Please allow 10-14 business days to receive your renewal.
  • We are now open at 7:30am on a first-come/first-serve basis. Tickets are put out shortly after 7am. At this time there is not a separate line for renewal customers.

40-Day Temporary Permits

Dealer/lender sending paperwork to MVD:

  • If you received a letter from Lewis &Clark county notifying  you that paperwork is in the office, you may register via e-mail here: https://app.mt.gov/accessgov/lewisandclark-clerk-treasurer . Please allow 10-14 business days to receive license plates.
  • We are now open at 7:30am on a first-come/first-serve basis and by appointment. Tickets are put out shortly after 7am. You may call 406-447-8328 to make an appointment. Phones are answered 7:30am-4pm. Please continue to call rather then leaving a message.
