Road construction to start at Lewis Street and Lake Helena

Project will alleviate drainage issues and eliminate dip

Helena – Construction is set to begin the week of July 1 at Lake Helena Drive and Lewis Street next to the Eastgate Elementary School just outside the East Helena City limits. It is scheduled to be complete the first half of August.

This is a Lewis and Clark County project designed to fix drainage issues and level out the large dip in the intersection. The contractor is Bullock Contracting. Work will typically be done between 7 am and 7 pm and crews may work some weekends. Expect delays of 15-20 minutes when traveling through the work zone. Detours will be posted.

The County and Bullock Contracting ask the public to obey all speed limits, posted detours and traffic control workers.

The project is funded through the Bridge and Road Safety and Accountability Act, a Montana fuel tax increase approved by the 2016 Montana Legislature and went into effect July 1, 2017. Additional information on funding can be found on the Montana Department of Transportation website:
