Effective July 1, 2024
Based on the recommendation of Sheriff Leo Dutton, in his capacity as Fire Warden and in consultation with the Rural Fire Council, United States Forest Service, Bureau of Land Management, and Montana Department of Natural Recourses and Conservation, open debris burning in Lewis & Clark County will be closed beginning at 12:01 A.M. on July 1, 2024 until August 31, 2024 at 11:59 pm. The reasoning behind this closure is to reduce the number of human-caused fires during the hottest period of the year. Should meteorological conditions change, this may be reevaluated.
