Procedures for Claiming Your Property:
In order to successfully find your property within the warehouse, please follow these steps:
Contact the CIB office of Property and Evidence to schedule an appointment. If you have the receipt or case number for a firearm you reported lost or stolen or you were notified was recovered, please provide it when scheduling an appointment. The case number usually begins with “LC”. It will be helpful to have the date of occurrence and names of people involved with your case/incident.
At the time of your appointment, present photo identification along with: the completed Property Release Form and the letter you received from the Sheriff’s Office.
You will also need to sign a Release letter which you will be provided a copy of.
If you are unable to retrieve your property and need someone else to pick it up, please prepare a notarized statement granting authority so that they can retrieve the property for you. You can download a copy of the Notarized Release Form here (PDF).
